The affidavit is used to fortify the case the applicant is presenting. It provides further information by giving another eye-witness account to the situation the applicant is describing. The applicant will benefit if they were to use an expert affidavit because they provide an expert opinion to the situation, which includes research and background knowledge of the applicant’s situation and/or country of feared persecution.
The Expert Affidavit consist of:
An introductory paragraph where the individual provides information such as their background and their expertise in the subject.
The affidavit will consist of multiple paragraphs that provide detailed information in regards to the applicant, reasons for fearing persecution, further information on the country conditions, and the data that backs up such claims.
Furthermore, the expert affidavit can incorporate other sources that provide essential research and information that will better build an effective and convincing case.
At the end of the affidavit, the expert must include what they want the U.S. government to do for the applicant (such as requesting asylum for the applicant).
Then they should sign the affidavit under oath and the signature should be witnessed by an official, such as a notary public.
